Technology amazes us every day. In a world where robotics is growing at a fast pace, 3D printing is revolutionizing the way the world works, we often fall behind the technology we create. But that doesn’t stop us. Every time there’s something great invented, we have taken the effort to make it better, to ensure that technology evolves and that we create something better that makes life easier.

As of 2015, one of the latest revolutions in Technology is 3D printing of food. Yes, you read that right. It is now possible to print food. Although the idea is in its early stages, it is one of the strongest and the biggest developments of today. Of course it is not an easy task, but the possibilities are endless.

There are three dominant methods 3D food printers use, which are Nozzles, lasers and powdery materials. Most of the printers also use a combination of these three methods. One such early adapter of the 3D food printing technology is Candylicious at the Dubai Mall. Last week, Candylicious unveiled two 3D food printing machines becoming the first candy shop in the world to use one of these.

What was surprising to the viewers was the fact that a sweet that they saw on an iPad 20 minutes ago was now readily available to eat. The printers use a unique gel like mix of pectin, fruit extract, glucose and citric acid called “gummy zummy” and the software has the ability to convert any image into a sweet treat.

The treats will cost Dh50 initially and the regular price will be Dh65. The next time you’re in The Dubai Mall, browsing, be sure that you experience these amazing treats.
